CEO Speech
Small Business projects in Yemen play an important role in the national economy, and these projects have gained greater importance in light of the Yemeni war, the deterioration of the economic and living conditions of citizens, the layoff of large numbers of workers from private establishments, and the scarcity of available job opportunities. The revitalization of small business projects in general, especially among women, played a major role in enabling families and society to withstand the repercussions of economic deterioration, the devaluation of the Yemeni riyal and the insane rise in food prices.
Aware of the strategic role played by small business projects, Marico Foundation focused on these projects, giving priority in its programs to empowering women economically.
Expanding economic opportunities for women is important because it is a critical factor in empowering women. Marico’s efforts on economic empowerment are being implemented in the context of women’s rights and work, social justice, and inclusive sustainable development that includes social, economic and environmental dimensions in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Marico also works to enhance the spirit of entrepreneurship among women, reduce barriers and contribute to creating an environment conducive to developing the spirit of entrepreneurship in partnership with local and international organizations.
